Megafauna

Megafauna is a term ascribed to large animals, normally meant to refer to terrestrial fauna. Technically, any animal over 220 lbs can qualify as Megafauna. While not specifically meant for extinct animals, nor any specified group, it is often used to refer to large, presumably extinct animals other than dinosaurs, marine reptiles or flying reptiles. Normally this means"Pleistocene" Mammals.
An example of Megafauna would be Woolly Mammoths. Here, the term Megafauna will be used to refer to presumedly extinct animals other than dinosaurs, marine reptiles and flying reptiles that have been reported to be still living, be they mammal or not, but will specifically exlcude reptilesas they are dealt with on the rest of the website.
